Pumpkin Carving Night

Wright City East Elementary School celebrated its Fifth Annual Pumpkin Carving Night and Pumpkin Glow with over 60 parents and students assembled into the cafeteria.  The pungent odor of pumpkin was thick in the air, as pumpkins were gutted and charming and some scary, faces were carved from the shells.

It is a wonderful feeling seeing parents fully involved with their students creating a pumpkin that will sit on their porches.  Made at their school.  Made with love and laughter and memories.  For parent involvement to be most effective, it has to get into the home.  Positive interactions with administration and teachers while families made their masterpieces were heard at each table.  Truly a wonderful thing.

First Grade Grandparents Day!

First grade welcomed grandparents and special friends today. It is so heartwarming to see all the visitors come to our school.  Students recited poems, read their stories and created art projects in their classrooms. The book fair was open and some took their grandchildren to pick out a book to remember this day.

Grandparents Day!

What a fabulous turnout for Grandparents Day!  I am grateful to serve in a community that supports their children at school.  It was so heartwarming to see grandparents "adopt"a student whose grandparents couldn't be here.  Again, grateful.
